Oilman's Archery Classic Tournament

On October 18, 2008, Buffalo hosted the Oilman's Archery Classic Tournament. A big thank you goes out to Jim Kinser, Jason Hoover, and Darrell (Bowhica on LSBA) for putting on the Oilman's Archery Classic Tournament at Buffalo Archery Club.

We deeply appreciate your kindness to the club. For those of you who don't know, the guys have organized this Tournament in order to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital. It is a 3D tournament and it only open to people working in oilfields. It was a great shoot, we had a lot of fun, and Buffalo Archery Club was proud to be a part of it.

The Oilman's Tournament is welcome back at Buffalo any time!!

For more information about the shoot and the cause it supports, or if you work in the oilfield industry and would like to participate, please visit their website at Oilmans Archery Classic

The Aftermath of Hurricane Ike

A core group of people have dedicated a lot of time and energy into reviving the club and getting the facilities into great condition.

We need to thank Michael Braden, Ed Ringel, Nolan Rogas, Mark Dyer, Johnny Hawkins, Johnny Ingram, and Kelly Kennedy.

They were instrumental in getting the ranges ready for the Oilman's Archery Classic Tournament and repairing the damage from Ike. The club simply would not be accessible or usable if it were not for these people. The City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department deserves a big thank you too! They have been out at the club every week cutting trees and clearing pathways in the field courses.

Elections

Buffalo would also like to thank all of its members for being a part of the club. We have had a great year, well , as long as you don't consider Hurricane Ike! But now, we need to solicit nominations for club officers and the board of directors.

Currently, we have the following people listed as officers and board members:

  • Mark Dyer -- President
  • Ed Ringel -- Vice President
  • Georgianna Witt Braden -- secretary, treasurer, web director, membership director, legal counsel
  • Michael Braden -- Field archery director
  • Johnny Ingram -- 3D director
  • Nolan Rogas -- Range officer
  • John "Smitty" Smith -- law officer
  • Jamie Hannah -- Youth director

If you are interested in being a club officer or serving on the board or you know someone else that is (please get their consent before you nominate them), then please submit a letter or send an email indicating your interest.

We will accept nomination until November 15, 2008.

Official election ballots with nominees will be mailed to each paid member (each family membership receives one ballot) and they will need to be returned by December 20, 2008.

Election results will be emailed and posted on the website by the end of the year.
