Fellow Archers Message

Fellow archers, past, present and future members, I extend to you a hearty
welcome to a new year at Buffalo Field Archery Club.

We've got lots in store for the club this year. First of all, while Stan has vacated
the presidency to spend more time on his Ponderosa, he's also agreed to stay on
as an advisor. Don't expect him to slave over the grill or prepare his infamous
grilled donuts… don't expect me to either, for I lack his exceptional culinary skills.
I'm afraid we're in need of a new grill master.

Kelly Kennedy continues to hold the reins as Membership Director. You might
also remember last year Kelly was the Membership Director and the Vice
President. This year Mark Rosin carries the title of Vice President. Mark's been a
member for 5 years.

Georgianna Braden, a long time member, understands the history of the club. As
Treasurer and Legal Council she helps keep this club financially healthy and out
of trouble.

Rex Rehmeyer, Field Director, and Daniel Plake, 3D Director, are once again
collaborating another exciting year of tournaments for you. If you've never
participated in a tournament before, you're missing out. Come to our first
tournament February 19th, and learn how it's done. You don't have to be good to
have a good time and it's a great way to make new friends.

Al Ortiz is putting together a team to start up our new Youth Program. If you like
helping kids, can pass an instructor class and a background check, then we've
got an opportunity for you to shine.

Even though retirement is looking mighty tempting for Smitty, we're hoping Smitty
can join us for another year as our Security Director.

The FITA Director position has gone away. However, if enough people express
interest and someone is willing to champion the cause…. It can always come
back.

Paul Ingram and Dave Bennett continue to be two of the club's hardest working
volunteers. I also want to recognize Joe Ed Newsome and Donny Hughes for
their outstanding contributions. Truthfully we have lots of members who help out
in their own way. Often times it doesn't take someone with years of experience...
it just takes someone who can help for an hour or two to make a difference.

So what's in store for 2012? The shoots will be cooler than ever. Literally- we're
buying fans for the pavilion area and possibly a generator to make you more
comfortable this summer. The tournaments and work parties are listed on the
web site. Our first work party is February 18th. Our first club shoot is February
19th.

Speaking of the website, check it out! It's been updated with more information
and photos. If you have any photos you'd like to share, please send them to me.
The website will continue to evolve as the season gets underway.

We're continuing a good thing and making it better. We've got lots of
improvements planned this year. During my transition into the presidency I
contacted many of you asking for advice. Many of you responded. Things you
didn't like were occasionally disorganized work parties, badgering to show up, no
targets, and slow or no tournament results. We're fixing these. Other things you
wanted were elevated shooting platforms and a broadhead range. Sorry we won't
be able to change everything, but we are looking at steadily improving the facility.

If you haven't already, we hope you'll join us again this year. If you want to be an
active volunteer then step up, strap on and get ready for a heck of a year. We've
got plans, and the more help we get, the more we'll get done.

Looking forward to seeing you on the range.
